So why should you get excited about steaming? Steam cooking is vastly superior to traditional methods of cooking for vegetables in terms of preserving nutrients, minerals and trace elements. Because the food is not immersed in water, colours do not leach out and the 13 vitamins and nutrients essential for good health are retained with virtually no loss. Flavours, colours, shape and texture speak for themselves. The DG5040 ovens offers a wide range of cooking functions for cooking with both steam and dry heat. Universal is ideal for steam cooking foods that can tolerate high temperatures such as pasta and rice. For more delicate food there are bespoke programmes for vegetables, meat, fish and poultry as well settings for defrosting and reheating food. And don’t worry - you can still manually control the cooking process if desired - cooking, reheating and defrosting can be done by time and temperature, with the latter adjustable from 40ºC to 100°C in 5°C increments.
