Chinoiserie Set of 4 Side Plates

Fine China Set of 4 Side Plates is part of the V & A Museum Chinoiserie range. The item comes in a matching hat box, making it the ideal gift for someone to either start or add to their collection. This stunning design was adapted from a panel of wallpaper decorated with delicate flowering shrubs, colourful birds and butterflies. The original artwork was water colour on paper and originated from China, about 1790 to 1800. This stunning paper is said to have been given to a former owner of Shenfold Park by a Chinese Ambassador. Each of the Victoria and Albert Museum items has been interpreted using original material to create strong commerical surface patterns taken from the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Inspiration has been drawn from various sources including traditional William Morris wallpapers, exotic far eastern silks and various rare and distinctive artefacts.
